今天很高興有這個機會在這裡跟大家問個好。新的學年度都希望大家有個好的新的開始。過去幾年來在行政組工作，如今卸下重擔，轉而在學校理事會服務，今將理事會的組織向大家做個簡短的報告。理事會是學校最高的決策機構，所有理事皆是由家長們來擔綱，理事會下轄﹕章程委員會、家長委員會、教學委員會、公關委員會、財務委員會、人事委員會、駐南加州中文學校聯合會代表、校產委員會、以及校長組。校長組下又設﹕副校長、教務主任、註冊主任、總務主任、及活動主任。理事會平常之運作是每2個月開一次會，若遇緊急需處理之事件，當立即召開全體理事會，或是召開常務理事會。除此之外，於學校重大節日活動時，全力支援校長組，以期能將之辦的十全十美。哈崗中文學校成立於1982年，至今已有23年的歷史，學校在先賢、前輩們的辛苦經營之下，有了今天的成果，實在不容易，雖說學校目前之型態不如往日之規模，但是優良傳統的美譽，卻是歷久不衰，在這我可以很自信、很驕傲的說（我以自己是哈崗人）為榮。
親愛的家長們，誠如我以前多次說過的，學校是屬於大家的，屬於我們每一個人的。在這裡，我誠摯的邀請大家來加入我們理事會，加入義工的行列。哈崗中文學校需要您們永永遠遠繼續不斷的大力支持。在此謹代表理事會，衷心的向您們說聲謝謝！謝謝您們一路來對學校的關愛與鼓勵。

Greetings from PTA Director:
H.H.A.C.S. PTA like to take this opportunity to thank our principle and her teams and all the teachers, volunteer parents who not only donate their time, energy but also putting in their endless effort to support our school and create a better Chinese learning environment for our kids.
We like to welcome all our new and old students back to school and our warmest welcome to all the families who had jointed us the first time. We hope you will participate all the school activates and share these wonderful learning experience with your kids.
On 10/8 we had our first PTA meeting and we like to thank all the parents who took the time to attend. During the meeting we had reported the compensation plan for snack bar and patrol volunteers. This year PTA had also prepared: Tai Chi; Cooking Class; Bridge Club and P.E.S.A. (Parents Expectation Satisfactory Assistance) training class for the parents. Also we had invite speaker from APFC - Asian Pacific Family Clinics to give us a one-hour free seminar (in Chinese). The topic is – Parent’s high expectation. We hope parents don’t give up this opportunity. These training courses usually have fees but APFC Is graciously waved the fee for our school.

各位敬愛的家長們 :
開學至今,看到了清新氣象,那就是進校園的“早安您好”和放學時,走出校門的一聲 “再見”. 禮儀是可貴的文化,中外皆然.您們苦心安排孩子上中文學校,不就是希望他/她們做個“知書達禮”的好孩子嗎?
毫無疑問的,我們跟孩子們都很辛苦,在工作或上了五天學後的星期六清晨,仍舊得早早起床上學去,但是得到的,絕對是甘甜的收穫.
中文學校給予孩子學習母語(或多種語言)的機會;不但有了知識的延伸,
更加強了文化的認同和人際關係的建立,以至於自信心和歸屬感,也都因此而提高了呢.
我們的團隊及老師和義工們都秉持著高度的熱忱在為我們的下一代打拼.我們需要你們的支持和肯定,請全力配合老師的教學和學校的活動,來輔導您的孩子, 啟發他們最大的潛力.

所有完成考試的學生將轉至馬文善老師指導的高級班學習
“文化常識”課程, 教材將採用中文學校聯合會根據多年文化常識比賽資料,整理編輯的題庫材料,未來中文學校聯合會舉辦的
“中國歷史文化常識比賽” 將以此題庫為出題範圍.衷心盼望家長和同學好好掌握這精華課程,並積極參加比賽.

It is undoubtedly a difficult choice to make to attend Chinese school on Saturdays after 5 long days of work& house chores for the parents; School work &homework for the children. However, when you look at the returns & satisfaction of knowing that you are not only going to be enriched by this vast knowledge of the rich heritage & culture, you will also be learning a language that is sought after by peoples all over the world. Through inter-personal relations, we will be able to expand our human relationship & build a good foundation for our children for the future,
Our teachers, the administrative staff and volunteers are counting on your full support to work together to provide a healthy and good learning environment for our children. Let’s all put in our best effort to help our children realize their full potentials.

教務處報告: 副校長/教務主任 張素真
學校開學已近兩個月，這段期間教務處配合聯合會舉辦了作文比賽及詩歌創作比賽，本校有數位同學參與競賽，預祝他們旗開得勝。
10月8 日的家長教師座談會非常熱烈而且成功，此次會面有助於家長在開學之初就能了解老師的教學計畫、教學方針及教學需求，同時家長們也可以藉此機會跟老師交換意見，若有家長錯失良機，請另外跟老師約定時間相談。
接下來11月5 日為期中考和SAT II 考試；11月6日海華文藝海報、作文、書法比賽，請已報名的同學事先做好準備，也請家長們協助參與。
作為哈崗中文學校校長組的一員，一方面要擔負宣揚中國傳統文化的重責，另方面又要不時吸取西方教育的精華，希望提供給本校學子們最合時宜的教材，心理上總是戰戰兢兢，深恐有負家長重托。二十年來，哈崗中文學校每段時期的工作人員都不計辛勞不求代價的付出，才能有今日的美名。我們享用前人所種的福果，怎可不為未來的華語教育付出幾分耕耘呢!
哈崗中文學校是大家的，相信在我們努力灌溉之下，必能換取更豐碩的果實，讓貴子弟學習中文的效果更顯著有效益，我們的努力決不白費!
News from the Dean of School Suzan Chang
Classes have been in session for almost 2 months. During this time the Dean and The Chinese Association have organized a writing contest and speech/poem contest. We have several students that have submitted their works to the competition. We wish them the best of luck!
On October 8th we had a teacher/parent conference, which was very successful. Our
goal was to give the parents a chance to understand the teacher’s goals and
lesson plans for the school year. At the same time, the parents were able to
voice their opinions and concerns. If any parent missed this opportunity,
please feel free to contact your child’s teacher
and set up an appointment.
The next big events we are in preparation for are:
November 5, 2005 Practice SAT II exam November 6, 2005 Essay, Penmanship
contest A staff for Hacienda Heights Area Chinese School has the burden to show
and promote the importance of Chinese culture, but at the same time has to be
able to take in the western ways of teaching to provide our children the best
kind of education. Finding this balance is not an easy task. For 20 years,
that first paved the road. HHACS is known as a distinguished educational facility.
HHACS is made up of a wide group of teachers to students, parents, volunteers, and workers. I believe with our determination and unity, we can see our children succeed in their journey of learning Chinese language and culture.

2005-2006年度註冊組總人數為191
人，其中87人為
2003 / 2004年度及之前即在本校就讀的學生(2004/2005年度資料從缺)，佔總人數46%，新生之中有許多是舊生的弟弟妹妹，常常在下課或休息時間看到大姊姊或大哥哥照顧弟妹的溫馨畫面。
今年註冊組有一些有趣的現象與大家分享﹕
1. 族裔多樣化，我們有韓裔、日裔、菲律賓裔、印度、及白人父母，華裔之中，除來自兩岸三地之外，有許多東南亞的華僑子弟，真正形成了多元文化種族的大熔爐。
2. 最早入學的同學有兩位是1993年入學的，有一位是1994年入學，學齡超過十年三位都在SAT
II班。年齡最小的同學是在2002年出生的，現就讀幼兒班。
3. 人數最多的班級是SAT II班及第六冊，學生都超過20人，老師辛苦了！
註冊組因為今年新手上任，盡管前任註冊在交接時已巨細糜遺，細細叮嚀，但開學時仍手忙腳亂，幸而有前校長組支援下，驚險過關，在此致謝，但是要特別感謝前理事長臧宜春，有了他，所有的問題皆迎刃而解,報表名單也都能順利印出。最後，還請各位老師、家長，如有任何意見，請不吝指教！
News from Registrar’s Office

Our school year started in June with 191 registered students, and of those, 87 were returning students which makes up 46% of the total number of students. Many of the new students are brothers & sisters of the returning students. You can see the siblings either playing or taking care of each other during recess, which is a common & warmth scene around the campus.
During & after the registration, we noticed some interesting aspects:

Our student make-up is becoming more diverse
this year. We have students with different ethnicity, such as Korean, Japanese,
· The Most veteran students of our school joined HHACS in 1993 & 1994 respectively. One of them joined the school in 1994, and two in 1993, all 3 of them are currently in SAT II class. It’s amazing to be a part of this school for over 10 years. Our youngest student was born in 2002, and currently enrolled in “Mommy & Me” class.
· We have 2 large classes that have more than 20 students each, they are the SAT II & 6th Level classes.
We have a new administration this year. And, the registrar’s office had to put in a lot of extra effort to fill the big shoes that left behind by the last administration. However, with the help from the members of the last administration and volunteer parents we took off with a good start. We are especially grateful to our past Chairman of the HHACS Board of the Directors, Mr. Jeffry Tsang. He was responsible for entering all the students’ names into our computer database, and we were able to have an updated student list on time when school started in June. We also know he lost a lot of sleep over this, and some basketball play-time.
We understand there are room for improvement, please do not hesitate to let us know. Our doors are always open, stop by anytime.
活動組報告: 課外活動組長 伍金女
各位同學及家長大家好！今年的課外活動仍然和往年一樣的豐富，師資陣容有:跆拳道-陳宗宜老師,繪畫班-錢伊平老師,民族舞蹈-黃靖老師,心算班-楊碧華老師。去年哈崗中文的中文常識問答比賽在王慶老師的指導下榮獲全美第二名，全體師生的努力有目共睹，這個殊榮不僅為哈崗中文贏取中文學校界的美聲，更重要的是引發同學們對中國歷史典故的興趣，因此今年課外活動增設中文常識班，由馬文善老師指導，馬文善老師就跟王慶老師一樣，善於利用故事引發深思，上課如同倘佯在歷史的時光隧道，非常有趣。另外特聘卓培我老師指導演講及詩歌朗誦，文字敘述運用語言肢體的表達，更能達到共鳴，文學藝術的發展在此達到高峰，請大家把握難得的學習機會。
Extra Curriculum Director Janie Chen
Greetings to all of you. Like previous years, this year we have a lot of exciting programs that started beginning of the school year.
Such as: Taekwondo-Master Chan; Painting Class- Teacher Chien Yu-Ping; Chinese Folk Dance – Huang Jin; Mental Math – Teacher Yang;
Our school’s Chinese History Academic Team, after many months of hard work under the instruction of Teacher Wang Ching, represented all of Southern California Chinese Schools, took part in National Championship Competition in the East Coast, and returned with a second place. Our students, through the participation, not only earned the bragging rights for themselves but for our school as well. Most importantly, it enhances the students’ interest in the learning of Chinese history & culture. What an amazing accomplishment! CONGRATULATIONS to Wang Lao Shi, the students and our dedicated parents.
To encourage our students to participate in this type of extra curricular activities, we have a Chinese History Extra-curricular class opened just for that. The instructors for this class are Wang Ching Lao Shi & Ma Wen Shan Lao Shi. Both Wang & Ma Lao Shi are very experienced in this area. Through story telling technique, the students are drawn to the historical scenario and feel like they are being in a time capsule. It is very interesting to watch.
We also have a class that teaches students public speaking & prose/poem recitation. The instructor of this class is Zo Lao Shi. The students learn how to overcome fear & anxiety. Speak with clarity and improve on their communication skills. By learning to recite poem/prose, it will enhance the students’ interest in literary subjects. We encourage the parents to take a look at this class.

承蒙新任校長的垂青，很高興的榮登總務組長職務，學山在校服務已超過十年，十年之間不論擔任什麼職務，總是得到全組組員的互相協助。哈崗中文就像一個大家庭，彼此關懷照料，一起為我們的下一代打拼，這就是讓我樂此不疲的原因。總務是比較繁瑣細節的工作，也沒有確實職責權限，各位若有任何需要協助，請不要客氣與我聯絡，定當竭盡己能不遺餘力。
Business Administrator - William Cheng
I appreciate the new principal’s decision in asking to join the new administrative team. I have been part of this school for over 10 years. I have worn different hats during the past years at HHACS, Regardless of what position I was involved, I enjoyed the partnership and cooperation between each member, and we are like a big family. We all share the same vision; share each other’s concern in providing the best learning environment for our children. My current job function is like a housekeeper, involves all facets of the school operation. The best part of this job is that I am free to offer my help in every area of the school. So, please, if there is anything at all that I can be of help, do not hesitate to talk to me, I will be do my very best to complete the task.
